THE
COMMUTER-II 2-SEAT
HELICOPTER |
||||||||||||||
|
The
two-seat Commuter helicopter had its origins as a single-seat
design in the 1950s known as the Helicom. In the 1970s, the
creator of that design, Harold "Pop" Emigh, went on to develop the
popular 2-seaters—the Commuter-IIA (photo on right) and -IIB
(photo above). To this day
these helicopters, with their solid engineering, shaft-driven tail
rotor and use of superb Lycoming aircraft engines, are considered
among the finest 2-seat Experimental helicopters available.
Vortech offers the large, thick manual containing the building plans for the classic Commuter-II. The airframe, control system, main- and tail-drive system, engine mounting, cabin construction, etc. are all detailed. Bear in mind that the control head was sold as an assembled, tested component and the drawings for this unit are somewhat general. |
