COMMUTER-II 2-SEAT

The
two-seat Commuter helicopter had its origins as a single-seat
design in the 1950s known as the Helicom. In the 1970s, the
creator of that design, Harold "Pop" Emigh, went on to develop the
popular 2-seaters: the Commuter-IIA (photo on right) and -IIB
(photo above). To this day
these helicopters, with their solid engineering, shaft-driven tail
rotor and use of superb Lycoming aircraft engines, are considered
among the finest 2-seat Experimental helicopters available.
Vortech offers the large, thick manual containing the building plans for the classic Commuter-II. The airframe, control system, main- and tail-drive system, engine mounting, cabin construction, etc. are all detailed. However, the main- and tail rotor heads were sold as assembled, tested components and the drawings for these units are general and not sufficiently detailed for construction. |
