The G-1 Ultralight Helicopter
Construction Drawings

• Easy, low-cost construction  • Carries one person  •Takes off and lands vertically
Flies forward, backward, sideward, & hovers  • Requires no license (ultralight)  • Can be stored anywhere

The G-1 may be the world's simplest, least expensive and most popular homebuilt helicopter. As can be seen in the photo, it is also tiny and extremely portable. The Construction Manual provides technical drawings, with parts and materials lists, for building the Compcop G-1. Included are photo sheets with close-ups of the hub and main drive system, plus a copy of the out-dated, but fascinating page listing the once-available G-1 kits and their amazing prices. All components can be built at home, including the rotor blades. The G-1 qualifies as an ultralight and can be flown without a license.

IMPORTANT: Vortech offers the G-1 plans as a curiosity for those interested in homebuilt helicopters because of its intriguing size and simplicity; however, Vortech has no direct experience with either the design or flight of this model and so cannot and does not endorse this as a proven aircraft. While people have reported building and flying this model, it appears that those flying versions were variations or enhancements of the original design. The G-1’s control system is minimal; also, this craft will not autorotate. For those interested in a more practical and proven design, please consider the A/W-95 or the Choppy (neither of the 2 would cost much more to build than the G-1). More elaborate designs that have been tested and flown are the Skylark, the HRH and the Aeros.

The G-1 was designed to fill the need for an affordable, easy-to-build ultralight helicopter. The entire helicopter can be built at home with ordinary tools at a low cost. No license is required to fly the G-1 because it is in the license-free "Ultralight Aircraft" category.

The construction manual provides drawings and text for building the G-1, and the included Catalog gives sources of parts and materials.
