The G-1 may be the world's simplest,
least expensive and most popular homebuilt helicopter. As can be seen in the
photo, it is also tiny and extremely portable. The Construction Manual
provides technical drawings, with parts and materials lists, for building the
Compcop G-1. Included are photo sheets with close-ups of the hub and
main drive system, plus a copy of the out-dated, but fascinating page listing
the once-available G-1 kits and their amazing prices. All components
can be built at home, including the rotor blades; or,
all-aluminum rotor blades are available from Vortech. The G-1 qualifies
as an ultralight and can be flown without a license.
The G-1 was designed to fill the need
for an affordable, easy-to-build ultralight helicopter. The entire helicopter
can be built at home with ordinary tools at a low cost. No license is
required to fly the G-1 because it is in the license-free
"Ultralight Aircraft" category.
The construction manual provides drawings and
text for building the G-1, and the included Catalog gives sources of parts and materials.
